Data corruption is the unintentional transformation of a file or the loss of information which usually occurs during reading or writing. The reason can be hardware or software malfunction, and as a consequence, a file can become partially or completely corrupted, so it'll no longer work properly since its bits will be scrambled or lost. An image file, for example, will no longer display a true image, but a random combination of colors, an archive will be impossible to unpack since its content will be unreadable, etcetera. In the event that such a problem appears and it isn't found by the system or by an administrator, the data will get corrupted silently and when this happens on a disk drive which is part of a RAID array where the info is synchronized between various different drives, the corrupted file will be replicated on all the other drives and the damage will become long term. A number of commonly used file systems either don't feature real-time checks or do not have good ones which will detect a problem before the damage is done, so silent data corruption is a very common issue on internet hosting servers where substantial volumes of information are stored.

No Data Corruption & Data Integrity in Cloud Web Hosting

We warrant the integrity of the info uploaded in every cloud web hosting account that is created on our cloud platform since we work with the advanced ZFS file system. The latter is the only one which was designed to avoid silent data corruption via a unique checksum for every single file. We'll store your information on a number of NVMe drives which work in a RAID, so the exact same files will be present on several places at once. ZFS checks the digital fingerprint of all files on all of the drives in real time and in case the checksum of any file is different from what it needs to be, the file system replaces that file with an undamaged version from a different drive within the RAID. There's no other file system that uses checksums, so it is possible for data to become silently corrupted and the bad file to be replicated on all drives over time, but since this can never happen on a server using ZFS, you don't have to concern yourself with the integrity of your information.

No Data Corruption & Data Integrity in Semi-dedicated Servers

Your semi-dedicated server account will be resistant to silent data corruption because all our storage servers use the state-of-the-art ZFS file system. What makes the latter unique is that it uses checksums, or digital identifiers, so as to ensure the integrity of each file. When you upload content to your account, it will be stored on a couple of redundant drives being employed in a RAID i.e. the files shall be the same on all drives. All of the copies of a given file will feature the same checksum on all drives and ZFS will compare the checksums of the copies right away, so if it identifies a mismatch, that will indicate that one of the copies is corrupted, it'll substitute that file with a good copy from one of the other disks. Even if there's an unexpected blackout, the data on the servers won't be corrupted and there won't be any need for a time-consuming system check which other file systems perform following some breakdown, prolonging the time needed for the server to get back online. ZFS is the file system which can really protect your content from silent data corruption.
